Prospective students will have a double opportunity this weekend to find out about courses which lead to Australia's highest employment rate for new graduates.

The University of Queensland will not only be an exhibitor at the Careers and Tertiary Expo 1997 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from Friday to Sunday, but also will be conducting Expo Uni, a major free public exposition on the St Lucia campus from noon to 5 pm on Friday and Saturday May 17 and 18.

For the past two years, national survey data has shown that new graduates at the University of Queensland have achieved Australia's highest employment rate within four months of graduation.

In the most recent comparison, 86.1 percent of University of Queensland new graduates aged under 25 available for work had found full-time employment, compared with a corresponding Queensland average of 80.4 percent and a national average of 76.6 percent.

With 4000 subjects and 200 programs in 66 departments and schools, the University has the state's most comprehensive range of high quality courses, state-of-the art facilities and extensive student support services.

Students visiting the University's stand (number 27) at the Convention and Exhibition Centre can follow up with detailed information, hands on demonstrations, science shows, exhibits and theatre and a host of other activities at Expo Uni on campus.

Tens of thousands of visitors are expected at Expo Uni which has been designed to appeal to all ages.

Other key dates which prospective students of the University of Queensland should mark in their diaries are Tertiary Studies Expo (TSXPO) on July 12 and 13 at the RNA Showgrounds, Brisbane; Courses and Careers Day on August 3 at Mayne Hall at the University's St Lucia campus; and Gatton College open day on August 31, which this year coincides with the College's centenary.
