This year, for the first time, the program is open to a greater range of students, including individuals seeking professional development but not wishing to undertake an award course.
Members of the public seeking continuing education and personal development may also be eligible to enrol in some subjects, even if they are not eligible to enrol in University award courses.
Summer School, which began in the mid-1980s, provides opportunities for the intensive study of undergraduate and postgraduate subjects, most of which normally take at least one standard semester to complete.
This year's Summer School program offers subjects in fields such as the arts, commerce, business, law, biological sciences, engineering and government.
'Summer School has evolved as a means for students to accelerate their studies or repeat subjects they've failed,' Summer School program co-ordinator Desley Andrew said.
'Traditionally, Summer School has appealed to UQ students and students from other universities, seeking to diversify and/or accelerate their studies so they can enter the workforce sooner.'
Ms Andrews said prospective students should contact the relevant head of department to discuss eligibility and prerequisites.
Some subjects are offered only on a fee-paying basis and non-award students will be required to pay fees for all subjects.
While Summer School runs from December 1-January 31, commencement dates for some subjects vary. Enrolments close Friday, November 7.
The University will extend the opening hours of its libraries during Summer School.
