The University of Queensland will hold a special fundraising dinner to support humanitarian relief in Burma following Cyclone Nargis.
UQ Union Functions and Catering will hold the dinner on Friday, June 27, with profits to be distributed to affected areas to help victims of the natural disaster.
Funds will also be raised through silent auctions on the night.
Dr Thein Htut, Senior Staff Physician and Associate Professor, Toowoomba Hospital, will talk as a citizen of Burma, highlighting Burma’s current situation and the need for support to help rebuild devastated communities.
Queensland Burmese Buddhist Association and the Burmese Solidarity Group will also entertain diners with dancers and entertainment.
The dinner will start at 7pm, in the Holt and Heath Rooms, Level 3 Aung San Suu Kyi Building.
Tickets are $40 for non-students and $30 for students.
