University of Queensland medical students (L to R) Kobi Haworth, Rebecca Adams and Andrew Taylor outside the Auditorium prepare for this year's Ipswich Campus Open Day.

UQ Ipswich Open Day is the perfect opportunity for you to experience what it is like to be part of The University of Queensland (UQ).

Prospective students, and their friends and family can explore the campus, meet with current staff and students and learn more about the study options available on Wednesday, August 8.

With programs in health science, medicine, midwifery, nursing, paramedic science and arts all on offer in 2013, visitors to the UQ Ipswich Open Day will get to experience a very healthy study environment.

Walking tours will be available and include a visit to the nursing and midwifery clinical skills facilities and a history of the campus.

Make sure you have the chance to explore the campus grounds and world-class facilities, including the new auditorium and medical training rooms.

A free sausage sizzle, live entertainment and activities have will also hand to make sure you get the most out of the day.

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Alan Rix said he welcomed students and their families to come along and get a feel for what the Ipswich campus had to offer.

“Our staff and students will be on-hand to offer advice and provide insight into life at UQ Ipswich,” he said.

“Holding our Open Day on a Wednesday afternoon means people can visit the campus at a time that doesn't impact on their weekend plans.”

Professor Rix said several developments, including GP Super Clinic, Artius, Exact Radiology and Think Pharmacy operating on campus and available to students, had increased the appeal of studying at UQ Ipswich.

UQ College will be on display to talk about their pathway programs, the Associate Degree in Business and the Tertiary Preparation Course. UQ Admissions, Scholarships, QTAC and Student Services will all be on hand to answer your questions during the event.

Don’t forget to use the online planner to make the most of your day, available at youruq.com/openday.

UQ's Open Day activities are held throughout August, with events also scheduled for St Lucia and Gatton campuses.
