The University of Queensland will offer a new round of Re-Entry Postdoctoral Research Fellowships for Women, closing on September 12.
Ms Jill Hillman-Marks of the University's Office of Research and Postgraduate Studies said one full-time, and two half-time fellowships would be offered for research over two years in any of the University's disciplines.
'The scheme is open to women with a PhD or equivalent qualification completed more than three years ago, and whose academic careers have been interrupted, delayed or otherwise disrupted, particularly by family responsibilities,' she said.
'The fellowships are designed for women who have suffered a break of at least 12 months in the progress of their full-time careers in research/academia.'
Ms Hillman-Marks said the scheme had been operating since 1990. As evidence of its success, all previous recipients had re-established their academic careers on completing the scheme.
They had taken up positions in areas such as the Queensland Agricultural Biotechnology Centre; University of Queensland departments; the Bureau of Sugar Experimentation Stations; and the University of Technology, Sydney.
Ms Hillman-Marks said the salary range for the fellowships in the next round was from $37,170 - $41,421 per annum (full-time) and $18,585 - $20,710 (half-time).
People wishing to apply should contact the relevant University of Queensland school/department/centre or unit in which they hoped to conduct their research.
Guidelines and application forms are available on the Research Services section of the University's home page at: http://www.uq.edu.au/oraps/oraps-home/grntfrms.htm.
