200 school-leavers tour award-winning UQ Ipswich campus

200 school-leavers from Ipswich and West Moreton will enjoy a preview of the award-winning UQ Ipswich campus this week in the lead-up to the official opening by the Premier of Queensland on Tuesday, June 22.

Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Trevor Grigg, said he was delighted that local high schools were taking the time to visit the campus.

"People who inspect the campus are generally amazed by the transformation that has happened on the site. This is a very spacious and beautiful campus that provides a tremendous learning environment," Professor Grigg said.

"UQ Ipswich is a truly world-class facility providing a broad range of career options for school-leavers.

"School-leavers wanting careers in areas such as business, information technology, electronic commerce, public relations, marketing, community development, politics, hospitality, tourism, travel management, leisure management and education now have an opportunity to undertake university studies locally.

"The new courses being offered through UQ Ipswich will place graduates at the forefront of a number of rapidly expanding careers, including electronic commerce and information environments."

Professor Grigg said Brisbane schools were also showing strong interest in UQ Ipswich and the courses being offered.

"UQ Ipswich is going from strength to strength and the campus is attracting students from Ipswich and West Moreton, Brisbane, regional Queensland and overseas," he said.

Ipswich and West Moreton residents will have an opportunity to tour the award-winning campus at the UQ Ipswich Open Day being held on August 15.
